Frequently Asked Questions...
The Upper Room Experience

Here are the top 5 questions new persons have asked before attending the church for the first time. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact our administrative team who will be more than happy to assist you!

  • What is the Upper Room Experience like?
    • We are blessed to be a five-generation church, committed to building strong individuals and families in their journey of faith. Our worship services are vibrant and Spirit-filled, with powerful music, meaningful fellowship, and life-changing preaching that nurtures spiritual growth and deepens connection for everyone who attends.
  • What about my kids?
    • We’re proud to have a thriving Youth Department where young people of all ages are fully engaged in our worship experience. From serving in our 9:00 AM Sunday School and participating in the Young Believers Academy at 10:00 AM, to playing a vital role in our main Sunday service — our youth are active, empowered, and growing in their faith. Each week, they share insights from their sessions led by our dedicated youth and young adult facilitators. Our goal is to foster a sense of ownership, purpose, and spiritual growth in every young person as we grow together as a ministry.
  • Where do I park?
    • Parking & Accessibility

While we do not have our own dedicated parking lot, there is ample off-street parking available for our members and guests. We recommend arriving early and allowing our security and parking attendants to assist you in finding an available space near the church.

If you call ahead, we are happy to accommodate individuals with special needs as space permits.

Our church is fully ADA-compliant and equipped with ramps to serve those using manual or motorized wheelchairs. Additionally, we offer van pick-up and drop-off services for our senior members who attend regularly

  • What do I wear?
    • Our focus is not what you where on the outside, we focus on ensuring that you are properly dressed on the inside!

We encourage all who join us for worship to dress in a way that reflects reverence for God and respect for one another. While we welcome you just as you are, we kindly ask that attire be modest and not sexually suggestive, so that our focus remains on worship and the Word. Let our outward appearance reflect the spirit of love, unity, and holiness that we seek to cultivate together.

  • How engaged are you with your community?

We hear at the Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church are highly engaged in community outreach, especially through our food assistance ministry and partnerships aimed at serving local needs.

Our church runs a Food Pantry called the 2 Fish 5 Loaves food ministry, offering free groceries to local residents Monday through Friday, helping to combat food insecurity in North Philadelphia and beyond .

We are also officially recognized as a community partner of Philabundance, one of the city’s primary hunger-relief organizations.

Our Faith & Fellowship Mission is that we are committed to worship, fellowship, and extending Christian service to humanity—both within the church and beyond with the emphasis to feed clothe and shelter.

We promote active engagement through small groups, youth ministry, community services, and regular serve opportunities that invite congregants to live out their faith in practical ways by serving others.
